About the Practice

My goal in therapy is to offer my client a fresh outlook and useful tools in order to tackle life’s challenges with increased confidence and grace. Clients benefit from varying approaches in therapy and I tailor a plan to the needs of my client. I see therapy as training to become one’s own therapist, i.e. to increase self-awareness to the point of being able to recognize independently the choices that will best serve one’s well-being.

Fears are educated into us, and can, if we wish, be educated out.

I have been in the mental health field since 1976 and in private psychotherapy practice since 1985. I practiced with Northland Therapy Center until 2006 and I am now a sole proprietor.

I am one of those lucky people who loves his work and feels privileged to be entrusted with my clients’ struggles and vulnerabilities. I am energized and inspired by the sacred role of guiding clients to a new and improved vision of themselves. This role includes coaching, teaching, cheerleading, consoling, mentoring, and playing devil’s advocate along with other hats I wear in the therapeutic relationship.

I see equal numbers of men and women individually as well as adolescents, many couples and families. I approach therapy in a practical down-to-earth fashion, helping my clients identify what is and what is not working well for them in their lives. We capitalize on the strengths and explore healthier alternatives to the attitudes, beliefs, patterns and behaviors that are falling short in the pursuit of a good life. Therapy can awaken us from the “trance” that life can become if we lose focus on what matters most to us.
